Guinness World Records: Jujutsu Kaisen becomes the most popular anime in the world!
The Guinness Book of World Records has certified Jujutsu Kaisen as the "most acclaimed" anime series, also calling it "the most popular anime in the world"!

The Jujutsu Kaisen series surpasses Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin), which held the record since 2020. The Guinness World Records Company explains that it made this decision based on information from the data company Parrot Analytics.
According to the data, Jujutsu Kaisen had a "Global Demand Index" 71.2 times higher than the average anime series.
Parrot Analytics calculates "demand" based on billions of captured data points, such as video consumption, social media engagement, and search actions (e.g., reading online articles about the series).
Actions that require more effort from consumers, such as watching or downloading episodes, are more heavily weighted.
The opening of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 had surpassed 50 million views on Youtube in just 4 months and reached 62 million views in 7 months.
According to the company, One Piece and the previous record holder, Attack on Titan, were close to claiming the top spot. One Piece had a live-action adaptation on Netflix to attract new viewers, and Attack on Titan aired its special final episode in 2023.
However, it was the raw power of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (24 episodes) that carried it towards the end of 2023. The Guinness Book of World Records reports that demand for Jujutsu Kaisen peaked on December 29, 2023, with 128 times more than the series average. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 had a higher percentage of Gen Z viewers (ages 13-22) at 71.3%, compared to One Piece (56.7%) and Attack on Titan (64.4%).
Attack on Titan still holds the record for the "greatest comic book published," thanks to the manga's large-format printing. Meanwhile, Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga holds the record for the "most copies published for a single comic book series by a single author."
The Jujutsu Kaisen anime will have a third season adapting the "Culling Game" arc from the manga.
