Majin Souzouden Wataru Anime, Announced

The anime series will be a new adaptation of the 1988 anime from Sunrise Studio. More information coming soon.

Genre: Shonen, Action/Comedy, Neo Fantasy

Synopsis of the anime Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru (1988):

Wataru, an ordinary child, finds himself thrust into a magical kingdom named Soukaizan after his encounter with Ryujinmaru, a magical dragon. Sukaizan, a world in peril, is ruled by a demonic and evil ruler whom Wataru is destined to defeat.

Inspired by role-playing games (RPGs), Soukaizan is presented as a series of superimposed magical platforms, forming a floating pyramid. To take on the ultimate villain of the series, Wataru must complete missions and quests on each level of this cascading world. His journey includes a confrontation with the evil master of each level and his many minions. Each level conquered restores a color of the magical, grayish rainbow that overlooks Soukaizan.

During his adventure to save Soukaizan, Wataru manages to bring a clay sculpture to life, transforming it into a small, super-powerful, semi-autonomous robot. He befriends the inhabitants of Soukaizan who will become his comrades-in-arms during his quest.
