Mamoru Hosoda's Scarlet Animated Movie, in Video Teaser

Director Mamoru Hosoda (Belle, Mirai, The Boy and the Beast) has unveiled his new animated film entitled Scarlet!

The Scarlet anime film is scheduled for November 21, 2025 in Japanese theaters and from December 2025 internationally.

Synopsis – Scarlet

In a kingdom torn apart by betrayal, Scarlet, a princess as strong as she is determined, sees her world crumble when her father, the king, is murdered before her eyes. Driven by a desire for revenge, she tries to confront her enemies, but tragically fails.

When Scarlet awakens, she finds herself trapped in the Land of the Dead, a haunting and chaotic world reserved for those whose thirst for revenge has never been quenched.

There, an even greater threat awaits her: those who abandon their quest become "nothing" and disappear forever. Refusing to let herself be consumed, Scarlet begins a limitless journey through space-time, ready to do anything to fulfill her oath and regain her dignity.
