A few years ago, a mysterious threat called the "Unknowns" suddenly erupted, threatening global security. To combat this enigmatic enemy, the Evolutionary Railway Development Agency, known as "ERDA", created the Shinkalions, robots capable of transforming from Shinkansen, Japan's bullet trains.

We follow the daily life of Taisei Onari, a sophomore student, who is transferred to Shinkai Academy in search of clues about his older sister who disappeared two years ago. As the Unknowns resurface after a ten-year absence, Taisei discovers a high level of compatibility to pilot a Shinkalion and is faced with a decisive choice: fight or not.
