Editor's review of the manga On the Motion of the Earth:

The first thing that strikes you about the Chi series is its rather unusual art style. This manga has a lot in common with shonen epics like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Dr. Stone. We find the same dramatic twists and a really well put together plot!

The subject of this manga is actually... The Copernican Revolution. What exactly is it? The Copernican Revolution was the total overhaul of astronomy during the Renaissance in Europe. Copernicus discovered that the universe was heliocentric, i.e. centered on the Sun (and not around the Earth, as was believed at the time).

What's particularly cool about Chi, apart from its eye-catching visuals and out-of-this-world subject matter, is that it forgoes the cliché of the "genius" scientist, who works solo. Instead, the manga On the Movement of the Earth (Chi: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite) focuses much more realistically on the fact that new discoveries influence the world and society when they are carried by many scientists at the same time. The more specialists who agree on a new thesis, the more legitimate it becomes in the eyes of people. And that's how the world moves forward...
