Synopsis – saga The Rising of the Shield Hero

Propelled into a parallel world, Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary student, is designated Shield Hero, one of the four legendary heroes summoned to save the kingdom of Melromarc from the Waves of Catastrophe. Unlike the other heroes, armed with offensive weapons, Naofumi inherits the shield, a symbol of defense. Betrayed from the beginning by Princess Malty and wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit, Naofumi is rejected, humiliated and reduced to the rank of pariah.

Disillusioned, he meets Raphtalia, a demihuman slave whom he saves and raises as a true partner in combat. Gradually, he forms his own group, along with Filo, a winged creature with a pure heart, and other unlikely allies. Together, they brave the devastating waves, unravel the dark secrets of the realm, and discover that their world is connected to other dimensions.

As the seasons go by, Naofumi evolves from a hated hero to a true pillar of justice, protecting the weak while opposing political plots, enemy kingdoms, and forces from other worlds. Season 2 explores the threat of a tortured and destructive spirit, the Spirit Tortoise, while Season 3 confronts Naofumi with the collapse of the kingdom of Lurolona, religious machinations, and a new danger brought by powerful and mysterious figures.
