Rurouni Kenshin Season 2 Anime Synopsis
Kenshin Himura, the peaceful wanderer and former assassin, must face one of his most formidable opponents. Shishio Makoto, an ex-assassin like Kenshin, survived an execution attempt by the government that left him for dead. Burned but not defeated, Shishio Makoto re-emerged with ambitions to overthrow the Meiji government, believing that it was up to the strongest to take control of Japan.
Shishio Makoto, accompanied by his elite troop, the Juppongatana, implements a sinister plan to overthrow the government, provoking incidents across the country to sow chaos. Faced with this growing threat, Kenshin is forced to take up his sword again with the prohibition of killing, to protect the era of peace he helped establish.
