Finn learns that his orphanage is about to close due to financial difficulties. Determined to find a quick way to make money, he goes to a casino. After a bloody shootout, he discovers people with superhuman abilities.
The world order can be controlled by a set of 52 X-Playing cards with the power to bestow different superhuman powers and abilities on those who possess them. Through these cards, people can access the hidden power of the "buddy" within them.
A secret group of gamblers called the High Card were given direct orders by the King of Fourland to collect the cards that were scattered throughout the kingdom, while moonlighting as employees of the luxury car manufacturer Pinochle. Tipped to become the fifth member of the group, Finn soon joins the players on a dangerous mission to find these cards.
"All you need in life are manners, dignity and the willingness to bet on your own life."
However, Who's Who, the rival car manufacturer obsessed with Pinochle's defeat, and the Klondikes, the infamous mafia family, stand in the gang's way.
