Live-action project distribution and details

The live-action series (drama) Oshi no Ko will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video globally in late 2024, and the film will be released in Japanese theaters under the Toei banner.

A critically acclaimed manga

Akita Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari began publishing this dramatic manga in Young Jump magazine in April 2020. To date, publisher Shueisha has published 13 volumes, with a cumulative print run of 15 million copies.

Oshi no Ko ranked 11th and 7th in the 2021 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! and 2022 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings, respectively. The manga was also nominated for the Manga Taisho Award twice in 2021 and 2022, as well as the 46th Kodansha Manga Awards in the General category in 2022.

A successful anime adaptation

The first season of the anime adaptation Oshi no Ko, produced by Doga Kobo (Himouto! Umaru-chan, My Senpai is Annoying, New Game!) premiered on March 17, 2023, with a world premiere of a 90-minute episode in Japanese cinemas, followed by regular broadcasts from April 12, 2023.

In Japan, several polls to elect their favorite series of 2023 put Oshi no Ko often in the Top 1. In fact, Yahoo Search Japan revealed that in 2023, the term Oshi no Ko was the most searched for on its search engine in Japan.

The success of this first season has been such that a second season is already planned for 2024.
