The trailer for the anime Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004 (original title: Yuusha-kei ni Shosu – Choubatsu Yuusha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku) promises us a dark epic with heartbreaking stakes.

Synopsis – Sentenced to Be a Hero

In a world where heroism is a condemnation, Heroes are not legendary figures, but criminals sentenced to serve in a military penal unit and fight the army of a Demon King. These condemned men have no right to die; if they fall in battle, they are resurrected to fight again.

The protagonist, Hero Xylo Forbartz, former leader of the Order of the Holy Knights, leads a troop of outcasts into the front lines. It is under these extreme circumstances that he meets Teoritta, one of the most powerful weapons in the world.

To survive and exact his revenge against those who betrayed him, he makes a pact with a goddess and plunges into a whirlwind of war and intrigue. Every battle is an act of desperation, every victory a glimmer of hope in an unforgiving world where heroes are created by the force of fate, not by choice.
