Synopsis – The Apothecary's Notebooks:
In the imperial capital, Mao Mao, a 17-year-old apothecary, finds herself abruptly torn from her ordinary life to be sold as a servant in the mysterious and dangerous precincts of the imperial palace. Trained since childhood in the underbelly of the city, she possesses an unparalleled knowledge of medicine and a keen sense of observation, assets that she must conceal to survive in this world of conspiracies and intrigues.
When suspicious deaths of newborn princes cause panic at court, Mao Mao cannot suppress his inquisitive nature and eventually attracts the attention of Jinshi, a high-ranking official with bewitching features. Detecting her exceptional talent, he appoints her as the personal taster of one of the emperor's favorites, thus placing her at the heart of the palace's machinations. From now on, every gesture and every word could be fatal for Mao Mao, who would have to use all his intelligence to thwart the traps of the court.
